Keyword "inline" - [in lieing] ? :)
« on: September 25, 2018, 04:08:17 AM »
Keyword inline has sound like [in  lieing] (gerund of verb "lie") :) . We have to be careful with everything what Stroustrup invented.

The gerund of lie is lying. It's in an irregular verb :D but I see what you mean and I like your jokes. I actually think that inline was first in C or,  who knows, maybe even in some assembly extension, but it's fine, we need to be careful about Stroustrup indeed :D

:D Every joke has only part of joke inside one.

I was serious. It is not important how we write words on paper. It's important what we hear inside cranium. Read about keyword "void" here in Ideas.

P.S. Sorry, magnusi, it's really difficult for me to understand your english :) . Maybe, you speak russian or ukrainian?

Search for word inline in Ritchie's C handbook did not give results.

Yes, of course, this word exists in english a lot of time, maybe it was in other programming languages, but in family of C descendants it was introduced by C++. Let's remove it!

but it's fine, we need to be careful about Stroustrup indeed :D

It seems, everybody already understood that ideology of object-oriented programming is simply sh*t intended to confuse programmer.

    I vote for inlay.

I use it with #define in my C code - looks cool.

P.S. This forum is a little-bit mal-ergonomic. Double-click has to select only word without right space. Not all colors in color box. I use magenta for preprocessor keywords. Maybe, to sort them by alphabet? It's difficult to choose :) . How to adjust font in edit window?
